This may be already listed somewhere, and if it is, I do apologize; but what are the ground rules for contacting an Asst. GM about a trade? I know for it to go through (maybe not, depending on the team's pre-existing agreement) they'll both need to formally agree to it. Should I always contact the Head GM, or can I negotiate with the assistant? I'm new and I don't want to step on any of the head GMs toes that have assistants. Let me know what's proper.

Personally I'd copy both guys on the e-mail and let them handle it unless you know what's up. Might not be a bad idea for those teams with assistant GMs to say "only contact head GM" or "copy both of us" in their trade blocks or something. |

You can negotiate freely with mine. A good assistant would keep the GM in the loop anyway.
As far as I'm concerned an assistant can do all but confirm trades and signings

If a player is not picked up for an entire season he is automatically retired I believe. |
