SIM 12 BETTING IS CURRENTLY OPEN
Odds updated 1/29/16.

Hey everyone! I'm gonna start up a RBSL casino to liven up the regular season a bit. I'm going to post MVP, Western playoff champ, Eastern playoff champ, and League playoff champ title odds, as well as a Game of the Sim where I post a game line to bet on. Payouts will come from the bank, and lost money disappears into the ether.

Rules:
-Betting IS NOT ALWAYS OPEN. I will manually post when betting during a sim can take place. This is so I can look at the results of each new sim and make sure the odds are totally fucked. For example, if Bogdan gets cracks his skull next sim, everyone's MVP odds need to come down. If betting is always open, someone could jump in and bet on the next favorite at much higher odds than it should be. Look for the status of season betting at the top of this post. You can always bet on the Game of the Sim.
-$100 maximum bet per category
-1 bet per category
-I may update odds at any time during the season. Your odds are locked in at whatever they were when you made the bet.
-If you bet on yourself and then make a giant blockbuster trade, I reserve the right to undo your bet to avoid insider trading scenarios. This also applies if you bet on someone and make a blockbuster trade with them where they get good players. You can always re-bet once the odds are updated.
-Post your bet in the thread for accountability's sake.
-Chris still has purview over all of this; if he sees something totally wrong, unfair, etc. he can step in and take what he feels to be appropriate action.

I reserve the right to punish anyone who bets against themselves and then tanks a DC.  Actually, I think you just shouldn't be able to bet against yourself to remove this problem.  Thoughts?

Probably shouldn't bet on a game you're involved in to avoid drama.
To make sure everyone is always included (with previous statement in mind), maybe post 2 lines per sim instead of 1 - giving everyone a chance to place a bet.

I have no problem with betting on yourself unless someone can give me a good reason.

There's no reason, probably realistically could allow betting against yourself but its just cleaner to forbid betting against your own team. If you think the odds are bad, don't bet.

Also grats Raps and Rockets! The Rockets won 101-92, winning outright. Both of you get your $100 back and another $100 on top! This will be one more place I'll check when I do team bank updates (which I am admittedly behind on).

Question (which may have been answered earlier and I just didn't read through properly): When we make our bets, does the money come our of our bank total immediately? Or only once the results are in?

I think his point is "If I have $500 tbd and I bet $100, can I also spend the rest of the $500 TBD?"

The answer should be "no, the bet is made immediately" else we are going to have a Jeff situation.

That's certainly how it should be. The reality is the bank isn't actually updated in real time so we need harsher penalties on ending a season in the red just like the hard cap. We can say "oh yeah you can't do that" but the bank gets an update like once a season and the penalty for being in the red is a few of us go "hey get out of the red"

Yes, this needs to be fixed.  Open to suggestions for penalties. 

Agreed. There should be a harsher rule for what happens when you go in the red. Like "no TBD purchases for x number of seasons" or something, or that they can't collect TBD for that number of seasons. I don't know.

Someone should speak up if they have a problem with me betting these lines - I had thought I should stay away because of a perceived conflict but, fuck it, I don't think there's a problem.

I think if you would rig the sims for $100 tbd we have a much larger problem than you betting on these lol
