I don't entirely get the point of trading much for a middling SG prospect, when the position is so deep.

Let's start by saying I sincerely love the conversation as much as the next person. Keep it coming.

Define "much" & "deep."

Lorenzo was offered to several teams and many didn't show much interest at all thanks to the contract and skill set (I guess). Taylor could be nice but IMO HE is a deep entity. The second, it's not on my radar.

Slater's value is high for me, but is it for Chris, who has the greatest SG ever? Is it for the Celtics, who have the best defender in the league, period (at SG)? Not at all. Is it for me, with Dial at SG about to retire, Brown at SG, getting overpaid & out of position, & a couple years removed from Denmon peacing? Yes. Very much.

In addition: in no way, shape, or form should TRISTAN SLATER be put in the same sentence as KCP or Howell. At all. But everyone is a prospect at some point.

The thing about SGs is there are a TON of "ok" ones, and a few superstars.  Same with PGs.  You can get a solid PG for pretty cheap, but getting a superstar is damn near impossible.

Slater's value shouldn't be high for anyone. I mean he could be ok, but that's about it. The win comes from unloading the Brown contract.

The comments about Slater amounting to average or OK maybe seem pretty spot it. You can get that pretty handily, often through FA scraps if you're creative enough to overcome warts and play around with the roster.

I didn't make a play on Brown, but I would have if I hadn't abused my cap with Drake and Avery. He's got his uses too.
