I'm not saying this isn't fair value - I like Wilson a lot. I just don't see this making sense for Thunder unless they have another big deal lined up.  I love him, but he's 32 and that's not enough to be a contender with the rest of his roster.

Pretty much I thoughts. I would've loved to have had Wilson on my team, but I wasn't going to move major assets unless he was the final piece to my puzzle.

Great haul again for Lou. Getting two picks for an aging star is almost unheard of in this league.

Oh definitely. It's just so strange to see someone get fair value.

Older star guys are weird to move because the only teams that want them are contending, so their picks aren't worth much. And if the picks aren't worth much, a lot of times the team with the old star would rather just run it back one more time. That means the person trading for the old star needs to either be sending younger but lesser talent, someone else's decent picks, or hasn't show that they're a true contender yet.

People always say OMG SOMEONE TRADED 4 AN OLD GUY!!!!! (not trying to pick at you Suns lol) but it's just not easy to make a trade that works for both parties when it's an older star making $20+. It's almost impossible for this to end up being a trade that works for both parties. Either Thunder doesn't quite end up contending and Lou wins, or Thunder makes the leap and leaves Lou with crappy picks. That said, it's still fair: they're just betting on opposite sides of the coin.

Here it's definitely going to be that Thunder wins, turns into a contender, and those are mid-late picks, or Thunder is still a lottery team and those are two lotto picks.

Yeah, a bit of a head-scratcher for the Thunder, but fuck sakes, the playoffs are not a hard goal for teams in the West, so this might just do it.
Lou reloads with picks - fast. Fearing the Magic, I reckon. Or the Knicks. Or demotivated and depressed that Jeff is no longer in his conference.
Not sure what bullets Thunder has left in the tank to add, but opportunity will present itself on the cheap if he keeps active - so, it's not hard to imagine this going Thunders way.
