I get that 2nds have very little value around here, but why just get rid of them way ahead of time like that? What if shit goes down and all of a sudden that '66 pick is in the 30s? And if it's not, you can still sell it at that point.
It's a low impact deal, obviously, I just don't see the logic behind it.

That's my hope, although Houston is a good team and I don't see them being bad.

The great irony here is that Colin Maravich was a second round pick, lol

I remember when he had a good TC and I tried him as an option for my squad in PS one year and he shot crap percentages and didn't really seem like he was going to be anything overly special, at least not much more than a solid bench player, even if he had a couple more decent TCs. Aaaaaaand boy was I wrong.

I don't think I've seen this much discussion over 2nd round picks being traded before...

Love 2nd rounders. Not married to them. Reward is possible.

Problem with second rounders is it eats up your slots to sign FAs. You may be able to cut them for nothing but not until after FA - for some teams which run light on their roster like Grizz it's fine, but I typically go into the FA period with like 12 guys already.

Man, you guys are all over me. Let's circle back to this thread and the other one in 3 seasons, and see what happened. Spoiler alert: late 2nd-round picks aren't worth shit. Ever. Late 1sts and early 2nds turn out once in a blue moon. Evaluate your risk/reward accordingly.

I was shocked that Wiz made this deal. I actually loved it for you. You usually have to PAY PEOPLE to take late 2nds. There is no way these seconds are worth shit.

fortunately, I'll have roster space to have 2nd round auditions. Sucks that I can't coast year-to-year with playoff expectations, so new times call for new opportunities/strategies. If one of these 2nd rounders (& the other 2 get cut) makes my rotation, deservingly, then it'll be worth it.
